He now sits as President of Breathing Green Solutions, Nova Scotia’s first licensed producer of Cannabis, and spends his spare time working as a mentor, and sitting on multiple boards in the community while also working as a youth basketball coach.

"MAKE MY LOGO BIGGER: WITH SPECIAL GUEST SARAH YOUNG"

In this instalment of Make My Logo Bigger, JIVE has the absolute pleasure of chatting with entrepreneur, Partner & Senior Counsel member of National PR and Founder and General Partner of Sandpiper Ventures, the one and only - Sarah Young.

Join us as we dig deep into Sarah’s success as a problem solver and communications expert. Sarah generously shares invaluable advice for creating a powerful team that values different perspectives and creativity, and explains how this outlook can lead to new answers to old problems. Sarah doesn’t accept “but it’s always been done like this”. It’s her belief that “if it should change, let’s change it”, and this helps explain her notable success in this industry. With thought provoking conversation about PR, growth and the importance of women and diversity in the venture capitalist market, this episode is a must listen.

In a refreshing, honest chat about approach, Sarah reminds us that flexibility and malleability are key to finding answers. When A and B aren’t working - maybe it’s time to link arms with the client and discover choice C! This understanding of compromise and creativity has made her work at National PR stand out, and has put Halifax’s chapter of the Public Relations company at the forefront. It’s no wonder she is the force she is today.

Furthermore, Sarah gives us an inside look at what she has learned about venture capital. With shockingly low female startup founders being supported and even fewer female venture capitalists, she became painstakingly aware of a hole in the market. Missing out on innovation by not uplifting diverse groups of women became unacceptable, and so Sandpiper Ventures was born. With this she hopes to foster significant advancements and disrupt venture capital as we know it.

In conclusion, Sarah advises those just starting to dive in with confidence, to celebrate the small wins and stop waiting for the milestones. Listening, compassion, and bravery seem to be her secret sauce, and we hope this episode inspires you to prioritize those as well. Happy listening!

On this episode of Make My Logo Bigger, JIVE sits with multiple national and international creative award winner, incredibly talented copywriter and creative director, Iain Deans. Iain now holds the title of Senior Counsel for Creative Strategy at NATIONAL PR Atlantic, and has years of experience creating meaningful strategy for the clients lucky enough to have worked with him and National PR. From discussing a fresh and unique approach to pulling brand narrative from those you least expect - to mental health and creativity, no rock is left unturned. With meaningful discussion about corporate therapy, relationships, and the importance of curiosity and listening, this is an episode that will shift your approach to the work from here on out. A must listen that we are excited to share.

Iain is insightful and inspiring as he discusses the importance of ego-free work, and of hiring smart people, and giving them the space to be just that - smart. Collaboration, listening, and expression are the pillars of the strategic work that can create an actual difference, and this is proven with his interesting anecdotes and examples from the field. As Iain so eloquently shares, its about getting to the truth for the client, and to do that, we must look at everyone involved - even those you least expect!

Recently we had the pleasure of working with Iain and National PR recently for their #OnePortCity campaign with the Port of Halifax, and we truly learned so much from the experience. It has quickly become one of our most memorable jobs, and one that has expanded our understanding of branding and strategic planning. We believe this episode of Make My Logo Bigger does this as well. JIVE PODCAST: "MAKE MY LOGO BIGGER" WITH SPECIAL GUEST JEFF SIMPSON

On this episode of “Make My Logo Bigger” we speak to our close friend, and well-known and respected Art Director, Jeff Simpson. Jeff chats with JIVE about the power of mistakes, what Art Direction really is, and the undeniable affect the recent pandemic has had on the advertising industry. With a dissection of how to make this work meaningful and powerful (for both the audience and the client) this episode serves as a reminder that creatives shouldn’t fear failure, but instead use it to their advantage.

From his early days of admiring and creating the ground-breaking (and at the time, illegal) art form of graffiti, Jeff knew that breaking the rules was something that could result in real artistic magic. It’s this approach to creating that has helped him dream up some incredibly powerful campaigns throughout his career. This rebel with a cause looks to connect and inspire people honestly, through big ideas and the guts to tackle them.

Throughout our chat, one thing is apparent: Jeff is an incredibly talented Art Director. One who isn’t afraid to lean on other professionals to create the best work possible, and one who can recognize that mistakes give more than they take. It’s a refreshing angle from someone so well respected in this realm, and reminds us of why we started in this field ourselves.

Want to feel re-inspired, or gain permission to go big and make a change? This episode is for you! Let us know what you think.
